During the time I was waiting for Phase 2 to get here to see if I made it, I was invited to enter another PC Case Mod contest sponsored by Intel and Dell @ www.ExtremeGamingTour.com

This is my entry that I did while waiting for phase 2.... If you guys dont mind, you can stop by after sept 5 and cast a vote!!! I would appreciate it!

Top Here is the Hard Drive that goes in this case, I modified it with a plexiglass window and added a 10 LED activity Meter to it.... just thought you guys might like to check out something different....

Just one comment/question from a guy who worked in disk drive manufacturing for years:
Is the drive with the clear cover functional? If it is, it may not be for long.
Drives are assembled in a clean-room environment - even the tiniest of dust can be fatal (I'm assuming you don't have a clean room). Also, many plastics are not suitable for disk drives, because they can out-gas stuff that will gradually contaminate the disk surfaces.

Anyway, if you actually run that drive, I wouldn't store any important data on it...

The drive is VERY functional, the plastic I used is the same Polycarbonate type that Maxtor uses in their Pre-Modded drives that you can buy with a built in window. I do not have "Lab Quality" clean room setup, but I did take some major precautions when I modified this drive, I also know it wont last as long as a factory sealed HDD, because the air in the drive has been contaminated and can possibly cause discoloration of the platens, but I only did this so I could say that I did it and mine lasted longer than anyone elses that has done this to their drives

, some others didnt even get past the partitioning phase, and some, didnt work once it was powered up!! and trust me, no important data is going on this drive, not even saved game profiles!!!

As for the negative votes, Its a long story, you might just want to read the forums over there to get the whole story, but in short, If you get a thumbs down vote it subtracts a point, you can vote thumbs up or down for any of the cases, once a day! And some are just getting more thumbs down than up.....

Im fortunate enough that I am still getting more up than down even though most of those guys are all from the same forum and they are trying to gang up on me to get me out of the top ten, it seems that someones plans back fired.

I havent been paying much attention to that contest right now anyway, I am busy getting my BUM system in place....
